The Huron Stewardship Council is a community based organization that is seeking to promote responsible resource stewardship through networking, cooperation and collaboration of efforts between various organizations and individuals in Huron County. The Council is comprised of nine to eleven volunteer members from a variety of backgrounds in the Huron County community, including agriculture, education, outdoor recreation, nature appreciation and other interests.
As we enter the 21st Century, we are becoming more and more aware of the need to become better stewards of our natural resources in order to maintain the ecosystems that support us. Research in social psychology shows that initiatives to promote behavioural change are most effective when they are carried out at the community level and involve direct contact and input from people in the community. The Huron Stewardship Council offers an opportunity for community input and involvement.
